Want to look like a K-pop idol but don’t know where to start? Well this is the guide for you!

The many different diets undergone by K-pop stars can be confusing for the uninitiated and it is OK to feel like you need help navigating. Sure, they may seem unhealthy, but these diets are the height of fitness trends! When choosing a weight-loss plan it is important to pick one that is right for you since not everyone likes the same food or has the same amount of self control, and that’s OK! Any time you’re confused or feel like you’re close to dying of starvation, just refer to this “K-pop Idol Diets for Dummies” guide to help you along.

CHAPTER 1 – HOW MUCH WEIGHT SHOULD I LOSE?

When it comes to looking like a K-pop idol, the skinnier the better! You can’t really lose ENOUGH weight. This goes for both boys and girls because it is much easier to get a six-pack if you have your body fat running on a negative.

Worried about being unhealthy? Don’t be! Idols obviously wouldn’t be that skinny if it put their well-being in danger. Need more inspiration? Comedian Kim Shin-Young and AOA‘s Jimin both recently lost 11 pounds, ZE:A‘s Kwanghee lost 37 pounds, and T-ARA‘s Hyomin lost 9 pounds. Now doesn’t that inspire you to get below 100 pounds, too?

CHAPTER 2 – WHICH DIET IS RIGHT FOR ME?

There are so many wonderful options when it comes to the diets of the stars! No two people are alike and that means that no two diet are alike either. Luckily, all of these diets are tested by the idols themselves so you know they’ll work perfectly. Why would an idol lie about how (s)he has lost weight? Don’t be silly!

20140711_theoneshots_diet51. The Paper Cup Diet – Find three of the smallest disposable paper cups you can. These cups are your new best friends! For three meals a day, eat only the amount of food you can fit in these cups. Nine Muses, the group associated with this diet, suggests you eat one cup of each of these: fruit, whole grain, and vegetable. Portion control for the win!

2. The One Food Diet – Pick one low calorie food to eat, and that’s it! This isn’t the easiest diet simply because you could get tired of the food, but it also means you will eat way less overall. Park Bom suggests watermelon as your one food, but sweet potato is also a good choice. Mmmmm that lack of protein will help slim down all of your muscles quickly.

3. The Banana Diet – Eat bananas for breakfast. That’s it. How easy! This is perfect for people with low self control, because your eating throughout the day doesn’t have to change. Yes, it may sound impossible but Seo In-young certified that this diet works, and why wouldn’t we believe her? Nothing like going banana.

20140711_theoneshots_diet44. The Lemon Detox – This is the most extreme of the diets, and not even all idols can manage it! Lee Hyori herself gave up on it after three days. You can do better than her, right? Nothing but water, herbal tea, and lemon isn’t so bad. We know it may sound like starving yourself, but think of it as cleansing your internal organs instead.

CHAPTER 3 – WHAT ABOUT WORKING-OUT?

Optional. As Hyomin recently reminded us in an interview, about getting ready for her solo debut, working out too much can lead to unattractive, masculine, muscle build-up. That is the last thing you want as a female K-pop idol! Big strong arms won’t look so good in those tiny tops. If you’re a boy, it’s all about the crunches. Chocolate abs are in this season (and every season).

CHAPTER 4 – BUT I DON’T WANT TO BE THAT SKINNY!

Too bad.
