And guess what? This compettion is open to anyone, Korean or non-Korean! And you can win cards of $500, $100, and $10 dollars from Amazon!
What do you have to do? Read one (that’s right, only “1″!) short work of Korean fiction, do a really brief video between 1 to 3 minutes, and put that video on YouTube.
1-3 minutes? That’s the difference between a raw egg on your toast and a soft-boiled one! It’s nothing! Michelangelo could knock off a small David in that amount of time (and then get back to sculpting – that naughty devil!). Heck, I could knock back a small beer (perhaps more).
What could make it simpler?
HERE ARE THE DETAILS, WHICH MAKE IT SIMPLER STILL:
Read one work from the following (FREE ONLINE!!) collections:
20 works from “20th Century Korean Literature” (Available free here)
15 works from “New Writing From Korea” (Available free here)
Remember, you only have to read 1 (“one”) of these short works. And the “rules” are so simple that a slightly daft, retired kitten-herder could follow them:
* RULES & GUIDELINES:
One entry per contestant.
The video must feature a short summary of the plot (don’t give away the whole story) and your specific reasons for recommending the work, or not recommending the work.
The video must be uploaded and available for public access on YouTube.
The video must be at least 1 minute but not exceed 3 minutes.
The video must be primarily in English or with English subtitles.
The video with the highest view count will receive extra points from the judging panel.
Entries must be submitted through the LTI Facebook page (where there is also more information).
BONUS 1: Watch KTLIT (uh, that’s here, buddy!) for links to short summaries of most of the works in the contest – read a summary before you decide which story to read.
BONUS 2: Feel free to copyright-infringe the heck out of this post. Please feel free to copy and paste it to your blog, your tumblr, your forum, scratch it in red on the side of your house, or cut it in crop circles in your backyard (you may want to check with a lawyer on some of these). Use it, use it, USE IT!
