Happy 2014, everyone! May this rotation around the sun be the best one yet for you, wherever you are in the world.
Resolutions might be seen as old hat to some, while for others it means putting up with newcomers at the gym. Apparently, crowds for the treadmill in January get shorter as the promises fall by the wayside… My wife hasn’t yet made one that she’s told me about, and certainly not everyone needs to have one… I have five this year (yep, five) and I have every interest in keeping them all. Without further ado:
- To take blogging a little less seriously. It’s sometimes gotten to feel more like a job than something I do for fun sometimes, even as writing represents a greater chunk of my income than ever before.
- To be a little more personal, and personable, on the blog. For a long time (and even still now, a little bit) it’s been hard to open up, to put myself out there online. If we’ve met in person, you’ll know I’m an extrovert at heart and LOVE meeting new people (seriously, if you’re coming to Chiang Mai in the first half of this year, drop me a line – khrisinthailand AT gmail DOT com). It’s always felt a little different online than in person, but I’ll be trying to let you folks in a bit more. I’ll also be responding to comments more and taking your suggestions on what you’d like to see.
- To surround myself with interesting people doing interesting things, talented people doing extraordinary stuff, and cool people trying new things.
- To see projects through to their completion instead of getting excited about a new project and forgetting about the old one(s).
- To begin thinking long-term – not just this year, but a few years from now. My wife and I have made South America one of those long-term plans, though there’s probably room for one more nomadic sort of stay around Asia…
Some stuff doesn’t really qualify as a ‘resolution’, except perhaps in a corny way. I’ll still definitely be traveling (and to the weird places, obviously!), taking photos, and plenty more.
So what are your resolutions this year? What do you hope to do differently this year?
